If you take proper care of your veneer, it should last from ten to fifteen years before it needs to be replaced. To get the most out of your veneer, you should brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once a day. Remember that while your veneer protects the front of your tooth, the back is still vulnerable to decay. You will need to continue to see your dentist every six months for your regular cleanings and exams. Your veneer will fare better if you don’t subject it to hard or tough foods, chew on ice or pens or other objects. If you habitually grind or clench your teeth, which is a condition known as bruxism, you can chip your veneer. Your veneers can be stained by long-term exposure to dark-colored foods and drinks. If that happens, your dentist can polish it. The cement holding your veneer in place may wear away over time. If that happens and your veneer falls off, save it and bring it with you to the dentist, he can reattach it, or fit you for a new one.
